SARS-CoV-2 (2019-nCoV) or better known as COVID19 drastically made a negative impact on various industries and businesses here in the Philippines, sad to say that our company was not an exemption. Through these challenging times, to be honest, we were at lost (just like the rest). Who would have seen this coming? We had to pivot our old ways and adapt to the new normal, not only on how we deal with people but also on how to take care of our people. For us, we are fortunate to have a team of high spirited individuals and our true assets are these people who made Ecovet what we are today. Ecovet Group would like to share with you the heartfelt stories of our valued employees and hope would ignite the flare of positivity, that nothing is impossible with perseverance.

KATHLEEN MIRALLES

Sales Associate

Like most people, I thought that this pandemic will only be a temporary situation because the Philippines were diligent on its strict lockdown implementation with the goal of preventing a widespread pandemic. My first thoughts were “I'm not ready! I don't have enough client contacts. How can I promote our products?” I was worried and all I can think of was to panic. The hardest part of being a Sales Associate is communication, how will we connect with our target prospects. It was hard before even without COVID and was even harder now to build rapport thru text messages, calls, chats and emails. For me, without personal interaction, it lacks emotions and may result to a connection barrier.

For the first month, work literally stopped. Slowly we realized that the virus had spread and we had to live with it. We don't have a choice and do not even have an option. “Gumagalaw ang mundo. Magpapaiwan ba ako?” Going back to work posed a lot of challenges. A lot of businesses have suffered losses and had to scale down. Those that was able to operate, have been very strict on their visiting policies. Most of the clients were not open to entertain new products or suppliers thus I encountered a lot of first hand rejections. Believe me, it was not easy. I had to say goodbye to my old timid self. I had to embrace the new me. This pandemic challenged me to change for the better. If we can teach ourselves to adapt, we can survive and conquer even what we think is impossible.

After the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), I learned to be grateful. First I am blessed that my family are safe and healthy. Second, that despite of all the complications this pandemic caused, my Ecovet family helped me cope up with the stress and depression through motivational webinars. With the proper attitude and mind set, it instantly reduced the burden of endless worries. Instead of worrying or thinking that the situation is difficult, let us use this opportunity to rethink on what approach to do, explore new opportunities and build strategies for this new normal to the next normal.

Ecovet is a big part of my life now. I am very thankful that despite this pandemic, I have a stable work that supports me and my family. I know that it is crucial that I do my part as a sales associate to bring in sales for the company for us to sustain business and provide stable jobs to all my fellow colleagues as well. More than ever, this is the best time to strive to do my best and give back my 200% commitment and Make Ecovet Count!
